Introduce:
1.3255 high speed steel is tungsten type tool steel. It is a deep hardening alloy capable of Rockwell C 64 hardness. Din 1.3255 Tungsten-cobalt high speed tool steel as per DIN/ ASTM / AISI standard. It’s equivalent to AISI T4 steel, comparing with AISI T1 high speed steel T4 added 5% cobalt to increase the heat resistance. This material also has considerable toughness and easy to grinding. After quenching, the surface hardness can reach 66-70HRC.

Applications:
Generally used as cutting tools, broaches and cold extrusion punches, turning and milling cutters for roughing work.
Soft Annealing:
Heat to 820-850°C, cool slowly in furnace to 550°C then air. This will produce the maximum Brinell Hardness of 265.
Stress:
Stress relieving to remove machining stresses should be carried out by heating to 600-650oC, holding for one hour at heat, followed by aircooling. This operation is performed to reduce distortion during heat treatment.
Hardening:

Tempering:
Tempering temperature: 2 x 560-580oC. Hardness after tempering is 64-65 HRC.
